Lotus Excel

About the concept:

This concept is the revival of the Excel, a four-seat performance sedan by Lotus. Keeping close with the tradition of Lotus being a true track car, this new Excel provides the practicality of a sedan as well as the sometimes necessary weekend getaway. Inspired by an Oyster shell because of its naturally durable outer structure and its free flowing surfaces on the interior. All this providing the optimal protection and experience for the all so precious pearl, or in this case, the driver.

The Excel utilizes Lotus’ thoroughly proven mid-engine layout to improve handling and provide the perfect weight balance. Also featured is a speed-actuated rear spoiler to create down force and supply ample cooling at high speeds. Another quality borrowed from the oyster is a sort of “gull-wing” door application meant to resemble the experience of entering and exiting a Formula 1 race car. Being that Lotus is famous for its exotic “back to basics” appeal, this concept proudly showcases their ability to portray raw elegance.

  1. this is great work. I am currently an industrial design major, always looking for new influences in all aspects of design. What program did you render this excel in? and are there posted sketches of your preliminary work I could see anywhere?
